An art cased, Debain et Cie upright piano with an ebonised case. Cabinet is intricately inlaid with ivory and features ornate brass candlesticks, handles and accents of brass ormulu mounts. The rich inlay is reminiscent of the designs of Owen Jones (1809 - 1874>.
Debain et Cie were based on the Place Lafayette, Paris. They supplied instruments to much of the European royalty including Napoleon III and were awarded Legion d'Honneur. |
